Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey

There aren’t many serieses that can keep on reinventing itself and still feel fresh but still similar. Shin Megami Tensei, one of the most Japanese sounding names of all time and a name that Microsoft Word spell checker hates, is one of those serieses. For instance the last DS incarnation, Devil Survivor, was an SRPG which turned out to be very addictive and stay true to the series. Strange Journey however though is a different monster all together. This more like an old fashioned first person dungeon crawler but this doesn’t end up a repetitive mess where you get lost all the time. What is it like though?

EDIT: Brilliant review, I must ask though; can demons be fused in this game? - and can your character learn magic, or is he restricted to guns and the like?

You can fuse demons, I mentioned it ever so slightly. I beleive if your alignment is correct you can use magic.
